PostHeaderIcon Dog Treats?

I cant find dog treats without corn or wheat.

Is it ok to feed my dog treats with these ingredients?

I am feeding it Canidae dog food, so i already know corn, wheat is hard for the dog to digest.

What about a rawhide? or pigs ear?

I used to have a dog, and she was quite wild about dried pig ears. It’s disgusting, but they seem to love it. No corn or wheat in there.

Purina dog/puppy treats are the best thing for dogs, they help clean their teeth and are very healthy for them

Innova makes a baked bisquit called Evo. Personally we treat with Evo bisquits, dried liver squares and Smokehouse chicken breast tenders.

Unless your dog has specific allergies, neither corn nor wheat will hurt it in small amounts.

Try to find a large pet store or specialty pet food store in your area. You should be able to find treats that have no cereal products in them whatsoever. Pure freeze-dried liver bits is usually fairly easy to find, but it is expensive. Most cereal-free treats are.

Another solution is to make your own. Pork liver, if you can find it, is usually very cheap at the grocery store, since most humans dislike its taste. Ask a local butcher if your grocer doesn’t stock it.

You can cut it in little bits and dry it yourself in the oven, or you can simply cook it, freeze it in portions, and use as needed. Either way it will probably seem disgusting to you, but your dog will love you forever!

I think if you feed in small amounts – like treats it shouldn’t be a problem unless your dog has trouble.

I use Redbarn as treats. My holistic vet recommended it – low preservatives and mostly meat. I think some have wheat flour, but the lamb version does not. It is a semimoist dog food, but I use it as treats. My dogs love it, but all of my students dogs love it better than any treat they bring to class. It is also great for using in Kongs.

Be advised – it must be refrigerated after opening because unlike store brand treats – it is low on preservatives and will mold. I slice mine up into patties and keep in the freezer and take one out a few minutes before training.

Here is a site below unless you can find a store that carries it.

I actually make my own, and found lots of dog biscuit recipes on the internet. Many of the recipes call for whole wheat though. There were some, as I recall, that were made with liver, etc. Do a search and see if you can find some. They’re easy to make. He loves them and knows when I’m making them!

I have found the healthiest dog treats are the dehydrated chicken tenders. I would stay away from the treats or food that contain corn or wheat, which can contribute to allergies in dogs.

The “Chicken Tenders” are pure dehydrated natural chicken and dogs and cats seem to love them.
